If you are in a place, #6: Cole Younger's LA Photography

Cole Younger's LA Photography

If you are in a place, follow Cole Younger on Instagram. Something that’s been kind of lost since Instagram went mainstream is that it used to be a place for beautiful photography. There are still so many ridiculously talented photographers on IG, and I’ve tried to fill my feed with as many as I can find.

It actually started with Humza Deas (tbh, follow him too), a New York-based street photographer whose shots are unbelievable– both for their artistry and their sometimes life-threatening angles. But being the open-hearted Angeleno that I am, I have a bias towards photography of my home.

Cole’s pictures are moody and capture the city the way I imagine it in my head. Heavy on contrast. Bright and yet somehow a little flat as well. With the new algorithm-based feed, I make sure to like as many of Cole’s pictures as possible so that they pop up on top of my feed as much as possible.

Los Angeles is a flawed city. But it’s my city. And, for me, I need to see it, over and over again, in its full color.
